Andrew Sator, 101 years old, of Middlesex, NJ, passed peacefully into the Lord's hands on Saturday, April 21, 2018. Born on Sep 23, 1916 to Michael & Mary (Kryston) Sator in NY, he wed Anna Bukovecky on Oct 26, 1940 in St. Mary's Church in Manville, NJ. They were married for over 67 years.
Andrew was proud of his three years of military service. He enlisted June 22, 1943 in the US Army and 2 weeks later was shipped out. During WWII, he served in the Pacific as a gunner. Afterwards he was employed in the ink and printing business. Until a few summers ago, Andy was an avid farmer, tilling and planting his garden by hand. He enjoyed sharing his harvest of huge, zucchinis, tomatoes, cucumbers, watermelons, cantaloupes or blackberries. Many family and friends, gifted with his plant cuttings, are cultivating his blackberries, fruit trees & pussywillows in their yards.
Andrew was a devout member of St. Michael the Archangel Ukrainian Catholic Church in Hillsborough. He was known for his self-reliance and continued to live alone after his beloved wife, Anna, passed away in 2008.
Besides his parents, Andrew was predeceased by his dear wife, Anna (Bukovecky) Sator; siblings, Michael, Peter, John, Steven and George Sator and a sister, Mary Kryston.
Andrew leaves behind to cherish his memory, his sister-in-law Margaret Zujkowski of Hillsborough and children, niece Elizabeth Jaskulski and children, Richard Mackewiz and wife, brother-in-law Victor Bukovecky and children, sister-in-law Theresa Esposito and children, Irene Potynski and children, Betty Hydro and children, especially nephew David Hydro who was his right arm, and many other loving members of his family along with many loving nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to visitations at Fucillo & Warren Funeral Home, 205 S Main St, Manville, NJ on Wednesday, April 25 th from 2 to 4 pm & 7 to 9 pm with the Parastas service beginning at 7:30 pm. On Thursday, April 26 th , the Panachyda service will begin at 9:15 am at the funeral home with a 10 am funeral service at St. Michael the Archangel Ukrainian Catholic Church, 1700 Brooks Blvd, Hillsborough, NJ 08844. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Hillsborough, NJ following military honors. Memorial donations may be made to the St. Michael the Archangel Church building fund.Visits: 6
