Andrew J.
Zangara
Jan 28, 1939 — Aug 1, 2026
Toms River
Andrew J. Zangara, 87, died on August 1, 2026 at RWJBH Community Hospital in Toms River.
He is predeceased by his parents, Carl and Helen Zangara and brother, George. He was born in Brooklyn and lived in Manville his entire life before moving to Toms River in 2022.
Andrew is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 66 years, Rosemarie. He leaves behind five children – sons, Carl and his partner Pam Damato of Toms River, Andrew and his wife Heidi of Toms River, Raymond and his wife Daria of Bridgewater, and Eugene and his wife Kiera of Somerville; and daughter, Lauren and her husband RJ of Edison.
He was also the proud grandpa to Heather, Brandon, Michael, Joseph, Justine, Nicole, Anthony, Jennifer, Gina, and Mark; and loving Peapaw to his great granddaughter, Madison.
Andrew was a 1957 graduate of Bound Brook High School and a member of Christ the King Church in Manville and St. Joseph’s Parish in Toms River.
He was employed for 40+ years in the Teamsters Union as a tractor trailer driver with Hemmingway Transport and Bunzl Distribution. Never one to stop moving, he also worked as a driver with the Somerset County Recycling Department.
Andrew’s proudest accomplishment in life was his children and grandchildren, who he loved spending time with along with his extended family and many friends. His parties, BBQs, and family holiday celebrations were legendary and full of unforgettable memories as were his famous camping adventures with Rosemarie and their kids.
Andrew lived his life in service to his community and the causes dear to him. He was a member of Bound Brook Moose 988, Marine Corp League Road Detachment 1284, and a life member of the Somerville Elks 1068, where he proudly served on many committees and was honored as Elk of the Year in 2010.
Whether it was leading the Saturday morning Christmas tree team or tending to the pull tab machine at the Elks, opening clams at fundraising events, or delivering Toys for Tots, Andrew was always available to lend a helping hand.
He was the true heart of the Zangara family and will be dearly missed.
Friends and family are invited to a viewing at Fucillo & Warren Funeral Home, located at 205 South Main Street, Manville, NJ 08835 on Thursday, August 6, 2026 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The final disposition will be private and Andrew’s cremated remains will be inurned in his niche at Somerset Hills Memorial Park’s Mausoleum in Basking Ridge.
