Manville, NJ- Anna P. Halkovich, 102, entered eternal life on Thursday, March 29, 2012. Anna was born January 31, 1910, in New York, NY. She was the daughter of the late Very Rev. Peter and Christina Halkovich and the sister of Libby Richer, who predeceased her in 2004.

She graduated from Pennsylvania State (College) University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1931 and immediately began working for the Pennsylvania Department of Health in the Bureau of Statistics. On February 15, 1941, after obtaining a leave of absence from her job with the Department of Health, Anna received her MBA from Wharton with a concentration in Local and State Government Administration. This was an accomplishment that few women had achieved and one she was extremely proud of. Upon leaving the Bureau of Statistics in Pennsylvania, Anna worked for the United States Department of Health in Washington, DC and had the honor of being invited to the White House for tea with the President's wife, Mrs. Bess Truman. Her final employment was with the New Jersey Department of Health, where she served as chief statistician until her retirement.

Anna devoted her life to her family, her church, her career, and her belief that higher education should be available to those in need of financial aid. Thus she established a scholarship at Penn State which was awarded annually for several decades.

She is survived by her niece Christine Raiser and her husband Michael, her nephew Paul Richer, her great niece Cynthia Keller and her husband Charles, her great nephew Mark Raiser and his wife Karen, and her great -great niece Katlin Raiser and great-great nephew Robert Raiser.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation at Fucillo & Warren Funeral Home, 205 South Main Street, Manville, NJ 08835 on Sunday, April 1 from 2-4 p.m. starting with a 2:00 p.m. Parastas service with Fr. Ken Ellis officiating.

The funeral service will be held on Monday, April 2 beginning 11:00 a.m. at Holy Ghost Carpatho Russian Orthodox Church in Manville with Fr. Ken Ellis officiating. Committal words and interment will follow at Holy Ghost Cemetery in Hillsborough.
