Obituary

Manville, NJ Bernadette (Barton) Michta, 84, entered into eternal life on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital-Somerset in Somerville, NJ.  Born in Lubelska, Poland, daughter of the late John and Maria (Malek) Barton, she emigrated to the United States of America in 1949 first residing in Clinton, NJ and then moving to Manville in 1950.

For many years, Bernadette had been a dedicated employee at Somerset Medical Center in Somerville as a housekeeper.  She was a parishioner and member of the Altar Rosary Society of Christ the Redeemer Parish (Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church) in Manville.  Bernadette was a past member of the Manville Senior Citizens Club; was a social member of the Polish Falcons Camp Nest 946 in Hillsborough, NJ.  She enjoyed trips to Atlantic City, cooking for her family; and she loved animals.  Her greatest passion was time spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Besides her parents, Bernadette was predeceased by her beloved husband, Andrew S. Michta who died on January 31, 2006; a son, Michael Michta who died on July 30, 2015.

Bernadette is survived by three loving children, Edward A. Michta, Sr. and his wife Joann of Hillsborough, John M. Michta and his wife Ellen of Hillsborough, Andrew E. Michta of Manville and his companion Debby; a dear brother, Michael Barton of Matamoras, PA.  She will be deeply missed by five cherished grandchildren, Edward A. Michta, Jr., Thomas H. Michta, Shawn J. Michta, Noah Michta, and Abby Michta; five adored great grandchildren, Edward A. Michta, III, Lauren Michta, Henrik Michta, Trent Michta, and Holden Michta; and several nieces.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a viewing at Fucillo & Warren Funeral Home, 205 South Main Street, Manville, NJ 08835 on Friday, December 29 from 4-8 p.m. and on Saturday, December 30 from 8-8:30 a.m.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 30 beginning 8:30 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a 9:00 a.m. funeral liturgy at Christ the Redeemer Parish (Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church) in Manville.  Committal words and interment will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Hillsborough.
