Vassallo
Sep 7, 1949 — Jun 19, 2020
Carol L. Vassallo
Born September The 7th 1949 in New Market NJ.
She was a technician for Somerset Regional Campus. After that location closed she went to Union Campus And Children's Hospital to continue in the same field prior to retirement. She loved her work, and looked forward to everyday serving others there, and beyond. She studied interior design in her youth, and never let go of her passion for art and design, she incorporated it into everything she did including her work with the children she cared for. She lived to get smiles out of everyone she encountered, to share the Gospel, for her friends, and for her family. She was a volunteer confection connoisseur, our freezer shark, our mmmmbuddy, our richest-brokest woman we know, our Craaaaazy Laaaady, who was deaf....but could hear the word cheesecake whispered a mile away, our loving mother who walked 4 miles in 2 feet of snow in the blizzard of 96 to get to work and be sure we were cared for, ......our dearest and most faithful friend. We are fiercely proud, and grateful to have known her. She is survived by her six children Charles Steele, Mike Steele, Mario Vassallo, Marina Vassallo, Lorenzo Vassallo, and Jennie Vassallo. Since I cannot capture her character nor do I think anyone could better than our brother Lorenzo already has. I have asked him to pick up where I left off with this biography. Please enjoy his intimate expression, and a glimpse into who she really was.
Thank you all for your prayers love and support. It is with a heavy heart I am here to say, my mother Carol Vassallo just recently passed on from this world. 6-19-2020 at 6:05 Pm Age 70
I love you mom.Thank you for everything. You were tough as nails. Always fighting through every hard time and health condition life threw at you with a smile on your face, and the next moment ready to make jokes. You even beat this damn virus. You were way stronger than I could ever be. I've always looked up to you for that. I'm going to miss our time together whether it's talking about strange things, watching movies, cooking, playing jokes on each other, listening to your stories that would make me shake my head, or hearing your voice over the phone when I would check in. You were the most kindhearted and forgiving person I know. If you had nothing and someone was in need, you would still try to find a way to contribute. You were one of the very few people who saw through me. There were plenty of times when I was down and you'd pick me back up when I was acting like I was fine. You always believed in me and let me be myself and supported me. I remember you protecting me so many times over the years, there are some things I can never forget. As I get older I reflect more and continue to realize you were a rare breed and this world will be lonelier without you in it. You deserved a better final moment than to be alone in a hospital bed. We fought for you. Only a moment after I got the news that you left, thunder boomed and it started pouring. It was your storm as you took off to let me know its ok now. This isn't goodbye mom it's an I'll see you later. When I do you can teach me everything you've learned once more. I wouldn't have it any other way... I speak on behalf of all your friends and family when I say, you will be missed. Nothing can hurt you now. I Love you mom. I know you will be watching over us. Until we meet again.
Her last words were "Please tell each one of my Children ...I love you"
