Charles W. Demyan (Chuck), age 88 of Murrells Inlet, SC (formerly Washington, NJ), passed peacefully into the arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on July 10, 2020.

Charles is survived by his three children, Patrice Flohr of Louisville, KY, David (Cindy) Demyan of Gibsonia, PA and Debra (David) Antonucci of McMurray, PA. He was a very proud Papa to his seven grandchildren; Zachary Flohr, Brooke (Flohr) Sechrist, Bryan Demyan, Katryn Demyan, Alexis Antonucci, Christopher Antonucci and Michelle (Antonucci) Holzer, as well as his six great-grandchildren; Lilly, Ezra and Peter Flohr, Cooper Sechrist and Andrew and Brady Holzer. Charles also leaves behind his loving partner of 24 years Elaine Druery as well as his brother, Stephen Demyan, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 33 years Shirley (Gritzer), his parents George & Mary Demyan and siblings Michael, Mary, John, George, Anna and Helen.

Born and raised in Manville, NJ, Charles was always passionate about flying. At age 17, he became the youngest licensed pilot at Kupper Airport and bought his first plane before he could even drive a car. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1951 and served 4 years including 2 years stationed in Okinawa Japan. He was honorably discharged as an Airman 1 ^st Class in 1955 and began taking classes at Trenton Junior College. He transferred to Indiana Institute of Technology and earned his degree in Aeronautical Engineering in 1957. While driving through Johnstown, PA heading home from his first job in California, he made a quick stop to say hi to an old girlfriend and wound up engaged. He and Shirley were married in 1960 and settled back in NJ to raise their family.

Charles earned his MBA from Seton Hall University in 1963 to complete his education goals and went on to have a very distinguished and varied career primarily in the manufacturing sector. In 1986, he realized a lifelong dream of having his experience in management published into a book. This was a 20-year endeavor in the making and one of his proudest accomplishments along with earning several patents and awards and serving on the Board of Trustees of Warren County Community College.

Together, he and Shirley raised their family and were looking forward to many years together. Unfortunately, Shirley passed away in 1993, but Charles was not meant to be alone. In 1996, he met the second love of his life, Elaine. Together, they shared his remaining years and filled their days with love, laughter, travel and time spent with family and friends.

Charles retired from Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in 2001 as the Director of Development and he and Elaine moved to South Carolina. An avid outdoorsman, Charles loved fishing, boating, walking, golfing, playing bocce, traveling and the beach. His raucous laughter and quick wit brought a smile to the face of everyone he met. His passion for life was only surpassed by his love for his family and friends. He will be missed by all who were blessed to have known him.

Family and friends are invited to attend a viewing at Fucillo & Warren Funeral Home, 205 South Main Street, Manville, NJ 08835 on Wednesday, July 29 from 6-8 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 30 at 10 a.m. at Holy Ghost Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Church, 258 South 6 ^th Avenue, Manville, NJ 08835 immediately followed by interment at Holy Ghost Cemetery.
