Hillsborough, NJ- Dorien Amalie (nee Androsiglio) Michaelson, 66, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital-Somerset in Somerville, NJ with loving and caring family and friends by her side. Born in Passaic, NJ, daughter of the late Frank and Joanne (nee Streichert) Androsiglio she was raised mainly in Newark, NJ and also had resided in Highland Park, NJ. While her husband, Kenneth was honorably serving with the United States Army, Dorien resided with him in Fort Stewart, GA, Fort Hood, TX, Germany, and Fort Lewis, WA. In 1983 she settled to Hillsborough.
Dorien was a graduate of Highland Park High School with the Class of 1975. She had worked in the healthcare industry for many years as a home health aide. Her caring passion for her work led to several awards and honors. Having also worked other jobs in different fields, she was most passionate for helping those in need. Dor loved music, animals, attending concerts with friends, and cooking homemade meals for family. She was an incredible extrovert and exceptionally friendly, making friends and leaving a mark on everyone she encountered. Dor welcomed everyone's children into her home as her own and raised them with the love as if they were her own.
Besides her parents and paternal grandparents and maternal grandfather, Dorien was predeceased by her maternal grandmother who meant so much to her and to whom she was very close, Florence Streichert; and baby grandson, Joey McDaniel.
Dorien will be deeply missed by her beloved husband of 49 years, Kenneth B. Michaelson, with whom she wed on May 31, 1975; loving daughter, Jennifer McDaniel; dear brother, Douglas Androsiglio; dear sister-in-law, Diane Ashford; three adored grandchildren, Adrian Jones-Michaelson, Jocelynne McDaniel, and Sebastian McDaniel; and many cherished friends, especially Joyce, Linda, Cathy, and Pammy, all of whom she was very close with. As well as her very loved, mischievous cats, Sebastian, Spencer and Elliott.
Private funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Fucillo & Warren Funeral Home, 205 South Main Street, Manville, NJ 08835.
