Somerville, NJ – Edwin M. "Ziggy" Zygiel, 65, entered into eternal life on Thursday, February 25, 2016 at his residence with loving family at his side. Born in Brooklyn, NY to Michael and Sophie Zygiel, he was raised in Manville before settling to Somerville in 1980.
Ziggy retired in 2015 from the Manville Department of Publics Works where he worked for thirty-five years in Road Maintenance and Heavy Equipment Operations. Ziggy enjoyed attending car shows and was an avid NASCAR fan. A country music enthusiast, he attended country music concerts whenever possible. Ziggy bowled with the Manville Bowling League for many years.
Besides his father, Ziggy was predeceased by his beloved wife, Laura (Sadorski) Zygiel in 2007.
Ziggy is survived by his devoted children, Dan Zygiel and his companion, Kim Hauck and Heather Zygiel and her companion, Ryan Grigsby. He will be deeply missed by his dear sisters, Irene Baginski, Charlotte Zygiel and brother, George Zygiel and his wife Tamie. He will also be missed by dear sisters-in-law, Maryann and her husband Bruce Freuler and Rita and her husband Robert Wasem; and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a viewing at Fucillo & Warren Funeral Home, 205 South Main Street, Manville, NJ 08835 on Tuesday, March 1 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. and on Wednesday, March 2 from 11:00 am to 12:00 p.m.
Funeral services will begin at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Fr. John Drobosky officiating. Committal words and entombment will follow at St. Bernard Mausoleum in Bridgewater, NJ. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ziggy's name to the Manville Rescue Squad, 2 South 3rd Avenue, Manville, NJ 08835 or the North End Volunteer Fire Co. #3, 169 North 8th Avenue, Manville, NJ 08835.
