Eleanor Theresa Wilk (nee Mamienski) was born on February 7, 1929 to Peter and Helen Mamienski in Philadelphia, PA.   After graduating from prestigious JW Hallahan Catholic Girls HS, she worked as a proofreader for the Philadelphia Inquirer in the advertising department.  Following WWII she met and married her husband of 64 years Marine Julius Wilk and moved to NJ.  Eleanor lived in the home they built together in the Weston section of Manville for the next 65+ yrs.  In Manville, Eleanor was an active member of the Sacred Heart RC church living a spiritual life of kindness and devotion to her family, her community and her faith.

Once a stay at home mother to her son Dennis and daughter Sandra, she went to work at RCA in Bridgewater as a lab technician when her children were older.  Over more than 30 years there,  her positive can do attitude, attention to detail and ability to learn new tasks quickly allowed her to move ahead and retire as an engineer's assistant when the company moved to FL although they did their best to try to bring her too.

Eleanor enjoyed an active retirement traveling North America from Nova Scotia to Mississippi to Missouri.  When she wasn't traveling, she was an active member in multiple seniors groups in both Manville and Hillsborough.  She enjoyed birding, sewing, quilting, gardening and was hands down the best cook in the family.  Her home-made pierogis and cream puffs were her specialty and never lasted long once they were done.

Eleanor was the family matriarch who doled out kindness and saw the silver lining in every situation.   She encouraged all to do their best and live a gentle life.  She made friends easily and brought joy to all those fortunate enough to meet her.

Eleanor was predeceased by her son Dennis Wilk and husband Julius.  She is survived by her sister Romona Miller, daughter Sandra Podobed, daughter-in-law Brenda Wilk, grandsons; David, Christopher, Daniel, Justin, grand-daughter Kimberly and multiple great grandchildren who all loved her greatly.  She will be deeply missed by them all, but they take comfort that she is certainly watching over them from above.

A private memorial service will be held to honor Eleanor and her meaning to her family.
