Hillsborough, NJ- Elizabeth C. (Tenney) Gockel, 99, entered into eternal life on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at Emeritus in Hillsborough where she had resided for the past three years. Born in Wappingers Falls, NY to her late parents Richard and Christina (Kehoe) Tenney, she was raised in Walden, NY. Elizabeth and her beloved husband Raymond came to New Jersey with their three young daughters first living in Plainfield, then North Plainfield, later moving to Piscataway where she resided until settling in Hillsborough three years ago.
Elizabeth was a seamstress having begun her career as a designer of samples for children's clothing at Celeste in Plainfield and then made wedding gowns for many years with Haynes in Westfield including those worn by her daughters. She had been a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Roman Catholic Church in Piscataway. There is no doubt that Elizabeth's LIFE and LOVES were sewing, her dedication to her cherished family and her true compassion for her beloved pets; cats Mieke, Ming Chu and Misty and dogs Boots and Puff-n-Stuff.
Besides her parents, Elizabeth was predeceased by her beloved husband Raymond Gockel in 1955; two loving daughters, Patricia Rosamilia and Kathleen Kwatonowski; twelve dear siblings.
Elizabeth leaves behind to cherish her memory, her loving daughter Joan E. Van Fleet of Manville; dear sister Patricia Di Donato of Walden, NY; five adored grandchildren, Brenda Heitz, Raymond Van Fleet, Lisa Van Fleet, Daniel Rosamilia and Elizabeth De Andrea. She will be deeply missed by her eight precious great grandchildren, Timothy, Peter, Sarah, AJ, Nicholas, Patricia, Christina and Douglas.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation at Fucillo & Warren Funeral Home, 205 South Main Street, Manville, NJ 08835 on Sunday, March 17th from 2-4 p.m. & 7-9 p.m. and on Monday, March 18th from 8:15-8:30 a.m.
Funeral services will be begin on Monday, March 18th at 8:45 a.m. from the funeral home followed by a 10:00 a.m. funeral liturgy at Our Lady of Fatima Roman Catholic Church, 501 New Market Road, Piscataway, NJ 08854. Elizabeth will be entombed at Somerset Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum in Basking Ridge.
