Shippensburg, PA—Elizabeth "Betty" (nee Bukovecky) Hydro, 93, entered into eternal life on Sunday, August 20, 2023 at her residence in Shippensburg, PA, with loving family by her side.  Born in Bilke, Czechoslovakia, daughter of the late Dimitri and Anna (nee Popovich) Bukovecky, she settled in Manville, NJ as a child and lived on one of the borough's first farms.  After marriage to Nicholas, Betty and her husband moved to Hillsborough, NJ where they would raise their family.

Betty retired from Sears Roebuck in Bridgewater, NJ, after over twenty-five years of dedicated employment as a manager of the receiving department.  Prior to Sears Roebuck she had been employed at Johns Manville in Manville.  She was a communicant of St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church in Hillsborough; her devotion was exemplary and included being a member of their Rosary Society.  Betty was truly a civic volunteer and active member in her community having served as treasurer for the Manville Fire Company #2 Ladies Auxiliary.  She raised money for them and was always proud to march in parades that they participated in.  She was a member of the Hillsborough Senior Citizens Club with Chapter B; and did various other volunteer efforts.  Betty's life can be measured with the love and devotion she gave her family as a mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.  She was a giving, loving, caring, and non-selfish person.

Besides her parents, Betty was predeceased by her beloved husband, Nicholas "Nick" Hydro; son, Nicholas Hydro; eight siblings, Vilma Sator, Michael Bukovecky, Mary Demko, Anna Sator, John Bukovecky, Irene Potynski, Margaret Zujkowski, and Victor Bukovecky; and grandson, David Hydro.

Betty is survived by three loving children, Michael J. Hydro and his wife Maryjane of Readington, NJ, David D. Hydro and his wife Karen of Manville, NJ, and daughter Christine Hydro Toth of Shippensburg, PA; dear sister, Theresa "Louise" Esposito; ten cherished grandchildren, Amanda (nee Hydro) Pascale, Gregory Hydro and his wife Erica, Jennie Marie (nee Hydro) and her husband Andrew Simmons, Joseph Hydro and his fiance Taylor Purzycki, Katie (nee Toth) and her husband Patrick Shope, Miranda (nee Hydro) and her husband Daniel Jensen, Derek Hydro, Kristin (nee Toth) and her husband Colton Keplinger, Kenneth Toth, and Kelsey Toth; sixteen adored great grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a viewing at Fucillo & Warren Funeral Home, 205 South Main Street, Manville, NJ 08835 on Thursday, August 24, from 4-8 p.m. with the Parastas service at 7:00 p.m. and on Friday, August 25, from 8:45-9:15 a.m. with the Panachida at 9:15 a.m. and then a 10:00 a.m. funeral service at St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church in Hillsborough with Fr.
