Obituary

Somerset, NJ-Eugene "Gene" A. Wojcak, 91, entered into eternal life on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at Perth Amboy Raritan Bay Medical Center in Perth Amboy. Born in Dickson City, PA, son of the late Stanley and Frances Wojcak, he lived most of his life in Manville and resided in Somerset for two years before settling at the Madison in Matawan ten months ago.



Gene was honorably discharged from the United States Army after faithfully serving his country as a Private First Class during World War II, 1940-1945. He was awarded and decorated with three Bronze Stars, Asiatic Pacific Theatre Ribbon, American Theatre Ribbon, American Defense Service Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon, and Luzon New Guinea Good Conduct Ribbon. Gene retired from Johns Manville Corporation as a utilities operator where he was also a member of their Quarter Century Club. He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Manville and a member of Thomas J. Kavanaugh Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2290 in Manville. Gene loved baseball and was a Boston Red Sox fan. He also enjoyed watching football and had an overall interest in sports, in general. Prior to his wife's death, he enjoyed their trips to Atlantic City and had a passion for playing the accordion.

Besides his parents, Gene was predeceased by his beloved wife Sally M. (Kryscio) Wojcak in October of 2002; cherished infant children, Pearl and Joseph; brothers, Stanley, Anthony, Henry, and Edward; sisters, Joan, Pearl and Loretta.


Gene leaves behind his loving children, sons Eugene A. Wojcak, Jr. of Manville and Robert A. Wojcak of Somerset; and dear sister, Florence Hudak of Ormond Beach, FL. He will be deeply missed by two cherished grandchildren, Hollyjean Wojcak of San Francisco, CA and Wade A. Wojcak of New York City, NY and his precious canine companion Tina.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation at Fucillo & Warren Funeral Home, 205 South Main Street, Manville, NJ 08835 on Tuesday, January 7 from 5-8 p.m. and on Wednesday, January 8 from 8 a.m. until 8:30 a.m.



Funeral services will held on Wednesday, January 8 beginning 8:30 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a 9:00 a.m. funeral liturgy at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Manville. Committal words and interment will take place at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Hillsborough. Memorial contributions may be made in Gene's memory to the American Diabetes Association, PO Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312.
