Belle Mead, NJ-Evan Kalenik, 60, entered eternal life on Sunday, October 2, 2011 at Somerset Valley Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Bridgewater, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in New York City, NY, son of the late Paul and Edna (Ilnitsky) Kalenik, he resided in Hazlet before settling to Belle Mead 30 years ago.



Evan had been employed as a purchasing manager with Johnson & Johnson, Sterling Drugs and Ciba-Geigy and as an instructor with IBM, all located in Central Jersey.

He was a former parishioner of Ss. Peter & Paul Orthodox Church in Manville, a parishioner of the Orthodox Christian Fellowship Chapel of the Transfiguration at Murray Dodge Hall at Princeton University and was a founding member of Our Lady, Mother of God, the Joy of All Who Sorrow Church in Rocky Hill, NJ. He was Sir Evan Kalenik, Kt.M.O.S.J., having been knighted by the Order of the Knights of Malta on June 1, 1986. Evan had a passion for the Russian Orthodox religion. He enjoyed many years of traveling, especially to Moscow.

Evan is survived by his dear Aunt Marilyn Lositski, Uncle Harry Lindsay and loving cousins, Denise Lositski, Donald Lositski, Mary Lee Budrick, Richard Nelson and Thomas Kucharchik and his wife Patricia. He will be deeply missed by those in his church communities.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation at Fucillo & Warren Funeral Home, 205 South Main Street, Manville, NJ 08835 on Friday, October 7 from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. with the Panikhida at 8:00 p.m.



The funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 8 beginning 9:00 a.m. at Ss. Peter & Paul Orthodox Church, 605 Washington Avenue, Manville, NJ 08835 followed by the committal words and interment at St. Vladimir's Russian Orthodox Cemetery in Jackson, NJ. Memorial contributions may be made in Evan's name to any of the Russian Orthodox Churches that Evan supported.
