Manville, NJ – Gaetano J. "Guy" Porto, 70, entered into eternal life on Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at Somerset Medical Center in Somerville. Born in New Brunswick, son of the late Maurizio and Jeonifer (DeSenzi) Porto, he has been a lifelong resident of Manville.
After faithfully serving his country in the United States Army, Guy was honorably discharged in 1963. For over twenty-five years, Guy worked at Johns Manville as a molder and packer and belonged to their Quarter Century Club. Most recently, he worked as a general maintenance worker for the Borough of Manville, Department of Public Works.
Guy was very sports oriented and enjoyed playing baseball and basketball along with taking trips to Atlantic City.
Besides his parents, Guy was predeceased by his beloved wife Velma Porto who passed away in November 2007 and by two sisters, Laura (Velinski) DeAngelo and Ellen Lombardi.
Guy leaves behind his devoted step children, Paul Lovas with whom he lived and Suzanne Tugya of North Carolina. He will be missed dearly by his cherished siblings, Jeanne Cassara of Arizona and Clare E. Alcamo of Galloway Twp., NJ and by three adored step grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to visitation at Fucillo & Warren Funeral Home, 205 South Main Street, Manville, NJ 08835 on Tuesday, May 29 from 6-9 p.m. and on Wednesday, May 30 from 10:30-11:00 a.m.
Funeral services will held at the funeral home on Wednesday, May 30 beginning 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Steve Eckert officiating. Committal words will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Hillsborough.
