George "Cheech"
Cichon
d. May 5, 2023
George Cichon, a lifelong Manville resident, fondly known as "Cheech" answered his last call Saturday, May 5th. He was widely known and loved throughout Manville. He joined Camplain Volunteer Fire Company in 1972 and spent countless hours training and bettering himself. He rose to the rank of Captain. As Captain he was tasked with teaching a whole generation of new firefighters to become the great leaders we have today.
Cheech was dedicated to his community and when he was no longer able to fight fires, he became fire police. He spent many hours raising money for the firehouse he loved and proudly wore firehouse clothing almost exclusively. To say he loved the firehouse life would be a severe understatement, He will be sorely missed and never forgotten. Thank you for your years of dedicated service, rest easy Cheech, we will take it from here. When he was not at the firehouse, he loved to fish, drive fast cars and collect coins and Hess trucks.
Cheech was predeceased by his father, Frank Cichon Sr. and his mother Eva Cichon.
He leaves behind his brother Frank Cichon Jr and brother Michael Cichon and wife Pat, nephews Christopher and wife MaryLou, Andrew and wife Kristen, Matthew: nieces Therese DeSantis and husband Matt, Angelina Obitz and husband Brian, Amy Deberadine and husband Mark, and multiple great nieces and nephew.
