Manville, NJ- George Victor Schuerman, 89, entered into eternal life on Saturday, June 10, 2023, at his home with loving family by his side. Born and raised in West Millington, NJ, son of the late Ella H. Schuerman, he lived briefly in Somerville, NJ after marriage and then moved to Manville where he resided for the remainder of his life.
George was a graduate of Bernards High School in Bernardsville, NJ with the Class of 1951. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force as an airman first class from 1952-1956 and was stationed in Germany during much of his service time. Shortly after his honorable discharge, George worked for a couple years at Johns Manville Corporation in the research department in Finderne, NJ and this is where he met the love of his life, Goldie. He then went on to work for Public Service Electric and Gas in North Brunswick, NJ as a dispatcher, retiring after thirty-two years of dedicated employment. George was a member of the Manville-Hillsborough Elks #2119 during the 1970's and he enjoyed bringing family to their swimming pool. Also, in the 1970's he was a member of the Knights of Columbus of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church. His faith was important to him, and he had been a member of St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church in Hillsborough. George enjoyed coin collecting, golfing, and bowling.
George was predeceased by his caring wife of thirty-five years, Goldie (nee Lizak) Schuerman who predeceased him on January 23, 1994.
George is survived by his loving son, Kevin S. Schuerman and daughter-in-law, Christine Pryor of Santa Clara, CA; dear brother, Carl J. Schuerman; cherished niece, Barbara Whiting; many adored nieces, nephews, grand nieces, and grand nephews; and of course, his loving feline companion, Miss Millie.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation at Fucillo & Warren Funeral Home, 205 South Main Street, Manville, NJ 08835 on Thursday, June 15, from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Funeral services will begin on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. with the Parastas service officiated by Fr. Jim. Committal words and interment will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Hillsborough.
