Obituary

Warren, NJ– Gertrude May Bell, 85, entered into eternal life on February 14, 2018 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital—Somerset in Somerville, NJ. Born in Elmer, NJ, daughter of the late Robert K. and Grace R. (Young) Bell, Gertie was the oldest. She came to the ARC of Somerset in 1982 and began living in the Cambridge Group Home.

Gertie enjoyed many years at Cambridge with her housemates. She worked at Branchburg OTC as an assembly person until retirement and then attended Sarah Care Adult Day Care. She was well known as a very "spunky" lady who loved animals, especially dogs. Gertie loved to whistle and sing, and could often be heard whistling throughout the day. Gertie had several opportunities to travel and she took several vacations, including a trip to Canada and summer camp at Camp Merry Heart.

Gertie was a small woman with a very big personality and she endeared herself to everyone who met her. She will be missed dearly by all who knew her.

Gertie was predeceased by her parents.

Gertie is survived by a dear sister, Alice Smith; dear nephew, Edward Smith; and three cherished great nieces, Samantha, April, and Christine. She will be deeply missed by the staff from the Old Stirling Group Home that took great care of her for many years.
