John was born in Syracuse, New York on September 12, 1929. John was the first-born son to his parents, Joseph (Giuseppe) Feltri and Clementina Feltri (nee. Desperati), who both immigrated to the United States from Italy. John grew up with his younger brother, Nino (Gaetano) Feltri.

In 1947, John graduated high school from St. Lucy Academy, and went on to pursue a variety of interests. A noteworthy example of one of John's post-graduation pursuits was his attempt at becoming a Major-League Baseball player. John rarely told anyone of his great love of playing basketball and baseball, or that he was a well regarded high school athlete (although his brother, Nino, would regularly recount John's prowess in sports). For a short time, John pursued a career in professional baseball, and tried out (as a pitcher) with the Boston Braves. John was nearly signed on for a contract with their Minor League, but was held back due to an injury to his throwing arm.

With his athletic career on hold, John continued other endeavors. In 1954, he began his college education at Syracuse University, in NY. In 1955, he decided to take time away from his studies at SU to serve his country by volunteering for the US Navy. After receiving an honorable discharge at the end of his enlistment, in 1957, John went on to complete his collegiate studies at SU, and in 1959, he attained a degree in Political Science, with a concentration in Government Administration.

John was married to Antonetta Feltri (nee. Pascarella) on July 2, 1962; they were married for 54 years. Together, John and Antoinette had a son, Joseph Vincent Feltri.

John worked for 24 years with the United States Federal Government, with the General Services Administration (GSA) as manager in a number of cities, including: Rochester and New York City, NY, and in Trenton, Newark and Belle Meade, NJ. He retired in 1984, enjoying a long retirement that lasted over 30 years.

During his career and in retirement he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, reading history, particularly anything about Italy, listening to opera, watching sports, classic movies on TCM and cooking shows. He also loved taking care of his cat Figaro (AKA Theo), cooking Italian dishes, and enjoying good Canadian beer and above all…making and drinking his homemade RED WINE. Many who met him knew of his uncanny ability to multitask, watching TCM, drinking wine, listening to opera, while carrying on a conversation simultaneously. Over the years, he donated to several charities including, St. Jude Children's Research and animal shelters.

John is survived by his wife, Antonetta; his son, Joseph, daughter-in-law, Susan, and his granddaughters, Samantha and Jacqueline; his brother Gaetano "Nino" Feltri, his sister-in-law Christine Feltri and his nephew Joseph Feltri; and a number of in-laws and friends, including his caregiver Rebecca Moore. John was predeceased by his father and mother, Joseph and Clementina Feltri.

Services for John Louis Feltri will be held at the Fucillo & Warren Funeral Home, 205 South Main Street, Manville, New Jersey, 08835. The viewing for John will take place during the hours of 5-8 PM on Thursday, April 26, 2018. The funeral service will be held at 9:00 AM on April 27, 2018, at Fucillo & Warren . A prayer will be conducted by Father Francis Hilton from St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, of Millstone, New Jersey, where John and Antoinette were parishioners. Burial will follow the funeral service at St. Bernard's Cemetery, in Bridgewater, New Jersey, at 11:00AM.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, which was one of John's (and his mother's) preferred charities.
