Denver, CO- Helen Ann (Steber) Gazo, 97, entered into eternal life on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at Rose of Sharon Assisted Living in Littleton, CO.

She was born to the late Michael and Susan (née Rongyos) Steber on January 4th, 1927, into a Slovak immigrant family in the coal mining town of Lansford, PA, where she married her beloved husband John "Jack" J. Gazo, a match that graced their lives for 62 wonderful years.  They moved together to Manville, NJ, in 1952, where she bore two sons, Thomas "Tom" Gazo and Richard "Rick" Gazo.  After John's passing on September 27, 2009, she relocated to Littleton to be near her sons and family.

Helen was a devout Catholic and a longtime parishioner of Christ the Redeemer Parish (Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church). She enjoyed cooking for family and friends, especially delicious desserts and other specialties from her Slovak heritage.

In her long life, she outlived many of those she loved so much.  Besides her husband and parents, Helen was predeceased by her dear siblings: brothers Peter, Michael, and John Steber, and sister Margaret (Steber) Kimmel.  She also tragically lost her two devoted and loving sons, Tom and Rick, and her cherished grandsons Thomas "Tommy" Gazo, Jr., and Richard "Ricky" Gazo, Jr.  They all passed far too young, and they remained forever in her heart.

Helen is survived by her loving granddaughters, Brandy Gazo (Matt Cohen), and Renee Gazo Campbell, and great-grandchildren Chelsey Cambell, Kailee Campbell, Lily Cohen, and Henry Cohen.  She will be deeply missed by her extended family and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a viewing at Fucillo & Warren Funeral Home, 205 South Main Street, Manville, NJ 08835 on Saturday, June 1, 2024, from 9-11am.  She will be reunited with her beloved Jack at a graveside service to follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Piscataway, and lunch to follow.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Christ the Redeemer Parish, or to a worthy cause close to your own heart.

Her family and friends express our heartfelt gratitude to those who provided critical help with her care in the twilight of her years, including: her late son Rick, the dedicated staff of Rose of Sharon, and most of all her granddaughter Renee, who visited her regularly and worked diligently and selflessly to ensure the quality of her care.

She was dearly loved, and will be dearly missed.  Loving God, we thank you for the life of our beloved Helen. Her journey has touched many hearts and brought joy to our lives. We entrust her to your mercy and seek your comfort for ourselves as we grieve. Grant us peace, and fill our hearts with your love.
