Helen (Chabra) Macinko, 91, of Manville, died peacefully at Raritan Health & Extended Care on Tuesday, April 5, 2011, surrounded by her loving family.



Born in Garfield, NJ her family soon after moved to Manville where she remained a lifelong resident of the borough. Helen graduated from Bound Brook High School in the Class of 1938 and then was employed by Johns Manville Corp as a bookkeeper in "A" building. Helen was a homemaker who took great pride in raising her family. Her interests included walking in town, reading, crocheting, knitting, gardening and traveling to visit friends and family.

A lifelong parishioner of Ss. Peter & Paul Orthodox Church in Manville, Helen was very active in the Sisterhood, choir and parish functions. She volunteered in the community as a classroom mother at the Camplain Road School, Girl Scout Troop leader for Troop 30 and a camp leader developing and building the "old" Camp DeWitt. She was also an officer of the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post #2290 in Manville and represented them at New Jersey and National Conventions. As a member of the Manville Senior Citizens, she enjoyed their trips, meetings and events.

Helen was predeceased by her beloved husband, John, who passed away after 47 years of marriage, parents Peter and Helen Chabra and her brothers John and Nick.

Helen leaves behind her two loving and devoted daughters; Ann Marie Iskra and husband Michael of Bridgewater and Elaine Kresefski and Tom Cavagnaro of Bound Brook, granddaughters: Michele Iskra of Wilmington, DE, Jennifer Iskra of Bel Air, MD and Renee Kresefski-Brown of Bound Brook, great granddaughter Tabitha Brown of Bound Brook, sister Mary Lopatosky of Manville and her many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 9 at 11:30 a.m. at Ss. Peter & Paul Orthodox Church, Washington Avenue, Manville, NJ. Helen will be laid to rest beside her husband in Ss. Peter & Paul Orthodox Cemetery in Hillsborough.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Friday, April 8 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Fucillo & Warren Funeral Home, 205 South Main Street, Manville, NJ 08835.
