Obituary

Helen (Yadvish) Vrabel entered into eternal life on Saturday, August 6 2016. Born in Nesquehoning, PA, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Horvath) Yadvish. Shortly after her marriage to the late Steven Vrabel on May 8, 1948, they moved to Bound Brook NJ where they lived and raised their five children until the late 70's when they moved to Manville, NJ. Since 2011, she resided at Brandywine Assisted Living in Bridgewater, NJ.

Helen worked at Ortho Pharmaceutical. She relished her work in the library and was among the first women to learn how to use an early Wang computer. She retired in 1982. Helen was a devout parishioner of Christ the King Parish in Manville and a member of the Altar Rosary Society. Helen and her husband were active participants with the Manville Senior Citizen's Club. In her later years, she was an active resident at Brandywine Assisted Living where she was beloved by residents and staff who nicknamed her, "Sparkles", for her bright personality and coordinated outfits. Her life is best epitomized by the great love she had for her family and friends and her generous nature. Often the center of gatherings, Helen was known to brighten any room with her smile and laughter. It was not uncommon to find her making dishes of traditional Slovak food to the beat of Polka music to be shared by all.

Besides her parents, Helen is predeceased by her beloved husband of 52 years and dear siblings: Ann, Andrew, John, Paul and Joseph Yadvish.

Helen is survived by her loving and devoted children: Steven Vrabel, Bridgewater, NJ; Robert Vrabel and his wife Marilyn of South Bound Brook, NJ; Ann Leo and her husband Wayne, Hauppauge, NY; Joseph Vrabel and his wife Cindy, Easton, PA; Barbara Bamonti and her husband Philip, Simpsonville, SC. She will be deeply missed by her beloved grandchildren: Rachel, Danika and Erica Mandel; Allison and Robert Vrabel; Patricia and Joseph Bamonti; cherished great grandson Jameson Madigan and step great grandchildren Abigail and Philip Bamonti.
