Obituary

Henry J. "Hank" Figel, aged 81, passed into eternal life on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at his residence, surrounded by his beloved family. He was born in Somerville, New Jersey, and was the son of the late Alex and Agnes (née Lizcziak) Figel. Hank was a lifelong resident of Manville, New Jersey.

Hank graduated from Manville High School. Following his high school education, he honorably and faithfully served his country from 1965 to 1971 in the United States Army as a Specialist 4 during the Vietnam War. During his service, he was stationed in Korea. After completing his military service, he embarked on a career in the construction industry. Hank co-owned E & H Construction of Manville for 14 years until his retirement in 2023. He was known as a fix-it man and had a passion for repairing items that required extra tender, love, and care. His skills earned him the nickname "MacGyver."

Hank was a member with the Thomas J. Kavanaugh Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2290 and the American Legion Post 304, both located in Manville. He took pleasure in swimming, fishing, and engaging in card games with his family and friends. During his leisure time, Hank cherished visiting the cinema, embarking on trips to the beach, and enjoying time with his family.

Besides his parents, Hank was predeceased by his son, Joseph Henry "Joe" Figel, on October 15, 2017; and his two brothers, Thomas Figel and Alex Figel.

Hank is survived by his devoted and beloved wife, Frances D. (née Janosik) Figel, with whom he shared 53 years of marital happiness, having united in Holy Matrimony on December 11, 1971. He is also survived by his loving daughter, Shani, and her husband, Steven Pike, of Long Island, New York, as well as by his four grandchildren, Taylor Pike, Evan Pike, Kiera Figel, and Tessa Figel.
