Obituary

Hillsborough, NJ - Janina Lebedynska Szeremeta, age 93, passed into eternal life on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at her home.

Janina's life was a testament to resilience, faith, and the enduring power of family. Born and raised in Poland, she immigrated to the United States in 1964, embracing a new life with unwavering courage and determination. After settling in Newark, they later built a home in Hillsborough in 1978, a place where she would cultivate deep roots and cherished memories. Her career at Best Foods in Jersey City was a chapter of hard work and dedication. After many years of employment, Janina retired from Best Foods in Jersey City. She had a passion for gardening and loved to share the produce of her efforts with her family and friends. Her fondness for the outdoors extended to caring for all of her flower & vegetable  gardens, and fruit trees.

She was a devoted member of Christ the Redeemer Parish in Manville, where she took pleasure in attending weekly Polish Masses, particularly the Novena held on Thursday evenings. Additionally, Janina was a member in the Hillsborough Senior Citizens Club. Most importantly, she found great joy in spending time with her family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Janina was predeceased by her beloved husband, Piotr Szeremeta, her grandson, Brent Yerman; as well as by all her siblings.

Janina is survived by two loving children, Wanda and her husband Richard Yerman of Roseville, California and Tadeusz Szeremeta and his wife Kimberly of Hillsborough, NJ and four treasured grandchildren; Matthew, Allison, Gregory and Mark.
