Jean Marie
Gantner
Dec 13, 1933 — Jun 5, 2021
Hillsborough, NJ- Jean Marie (nee Vetter) Gantner, 87, entered into eternal life on Saturday, June 5, 2021 at her home with loving family by her side. Born in Jersey City, NJ, daughter of the late Anthony and Nora (nee Crawford) Vetter, she was raised in Bayonne, NJ, and lived in South Bound Brook, Manville, and Spring Lake Heights, before settling in Hillsborough.
Jean's highest priorities in life were her husband, Joseph, her five sons, and doting over her many grandchildren and great grannies. She was passionate about cooking and took great pride in over-feeding her family and friends. Jean was notorious for keeping a spotless house; so clean, there was no 5 second rule. Jean worked for a number of years in the Manville High School cafeteria where she was known for doling out huge servings to the kids. Jean also enjoyed going to Atlantic City where she loved to play the slots with her husband and her many family members.
Besides her parents, Jean was predeceased by her husband, Joseph in 2006; sister Betty Nolan and her husband William; sister Ruth Engle and her husband Frank; brother Robert Vetter and his wife Christine; her brother Vincent Vetter; brother Raymond Vetter; brothers-in-law Robert Kavanagh, William Kelty, and Frank Faddy.
Jean is survived by five loving sons, Richard and wife Ellen of Upper Black Eddy, PA; Joseph of Edgewood, MD; Michael and wife Merica of North Plainfield, NJ; Mark and wife Gina of Ringoes, NJ; and Craig and wife Elizabeth of New London, NH; sister Joann Conticello and husband Vincent; sister Lois Faddy; sister Theresa Kelty; sister Corine Kavanagh; brother Joseph Vetter and wife Valerie; and sister-in-law Ann Marie Vetter, and many nieces and nephews. Jean will be deeply missed by her grandchildren, Ashley Gourlay, Jessica Turner, Jordan Gantner, Silver Laur, Kasey Gantner, Joseph Gantner, Mia Gantner, Nora Gantner, Michael Gantner, and Eliza Gantner, and greatgrandchildren, Madison Turner, Teagan Turner, Alexis Turner, Liam Gourlay, and Palmer Gourlay.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service on June 13, 2021 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Fucillo & Warren Funeral Home, 205 South Main Street, Manville, NJ 08835. There will be a Catholic memorial mass in Jean's honor upon interment where she will be reunited with her dear husband, Joseph. Date to be determined in the future. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Jean's name to the Robert Wood Johnson Visiting Nurses Association at www.rwjbh.org.
