Jo Ann (Killion) Shepherd, 75, passed away on New Year's Day at Saint Peter's University Hospital in New Brunswick, surrounded by her loving family. Jo Ann was born at Saint Peter's University Hospital on January 2, 1940 to Carlos and Ann Killion and grew up in New Brunswick. She graduated from New Brunswick High School class of 1958 where she served on the Drill Team. She also attended Drake Business School, which was then located in New Brunswick.

Jo Ann married Marine Pvt. Douglas H. Kuhmann who was killed in December 1958. They had a daughter Bonnie. She then married Ronald Cressman and moved to Pennsylvania. They had a daughter Robin. Following her return to New Jersey, she was employed by Boy Scouts of America in North Brunswick. She later married William Shepherd and moved to Neshanic, New Jersey. Bill and Jo Ann had a daughter Laura. Jo Ann was employed by Carrier Clinic in Belle Mead for 18 years as Director of Admissions. She later worked for Saint Peter's University Hospital as secretary of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Follow-up program. She retired after ten years with Saint Peter's in 2001. Following the death of her husband Bill, and her retirement from Saint Peter's, Jo Ann moved to Winter Haven, Florida in 2002, and returned to New Jersey in 2013. She enjoyed her time in Florida but came back due to her health. For the past year, Jo Ann was a resident of McCarrick Care Center in Somerset.

Mrs. Shepherd was predeceased by her parents, Carlos Killion (1999), her mother, Ann Chyck Killion (2001), her first husband Pvt. Douglas Kuhmann (1958), her husband William Shepherd in 1992, her former husband Ronald Cressman (2015), and her daughter Robin Cressman Boyd (November 2015).

She is survived by her daughter Bonnie Coddington and her husband Randy of Hillsborough, her daughter Laura Helper and her husband Jim of Rahway, her step-sons William Shepherd and Richard Shepherd, her sisters Gloria Waldner of Highland Park and Kathleen Killion of North Brunswick.

She is also survived by her grandchildren, Crystal Coddington, Randy Coddington, Jarrett Gradone, Kayla Boyd, Whitney Helper and Ryan Helper and her great grandson Jayden Boyd. She is survived by her cousin Carol Szymanski of Monmouth Junction and her aunt Tatiana Chyck of Boynton Beach, Florida, three sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law, and two nieces, one nephew, five great-nieces and two great-nephews.

Jo Ann loved working with the NICU babies and in lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations may be made to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Saint Peter's University Hospital and sent in care of the Saint Peter's Foundation, 254 Easton Avenue, New Brunswick, New Jersey 08901 in her memory.

The family extends their thanks to Dr. Suzanne Kabis and her staff for the wonderful care provided to Jo Ann over the last two years, to the staff of McCarrick Care Center, and to the staff of Saint Peter's University Hospital for the compassionate care and treatment she received over the last three weeks.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation at Fucillo & Warren Funeral Home, 205 South Main Street, Manville, NJ 08835 on Tuesday, January 5 from 3-7 p.m. and on Wednesday, January 6 from 10-11 a.m.

Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, January 6 beginning at 11:00 a.m. followed by committal words and interment at Neshanic Cemetery in Hillsborough.
