Mrs. Joan Ann (Kapuscinski) Smith, originally of Manville, New Jersey, passed away at age 75 on November 19, 2018 at her home in Middlesex, New Jersey surrounded by her loving family. Joan was born on January 11, 1943 in Brooklyn, New York, to the late Mary Kapuscinski and the late Edward Szczaczarz. Joan was the beloved wife of Richard Smith. She was preceded in death by her son, Robert Smith; and dogs, Nathan, Frankie, and Katie. Joan is survived by her sons, Thomas Smith and Daniel Smith; brother, Richard Kapuscinski; and 5 grandchildren, Melissa Smith, Christopher Smith, Richard Smith, Daniel R. Smith, and McKenna M. Smith. Joan was an avid Judo player in her younger years who placed second in Women's Nationals in 1965. She loved Bingo, ceramics, and dancing. Her greatest joys came from cheering on her grandkids in their extracurricular activities. Finally, Joan loved watching and rooting for the Yankees. Friends and family are welcome to attend the memorial service on Saturday, November 24 at 9:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 98 South Second Avenue, Manville.
