Obituary

Manville, NJ—John J. Anderson, 66, entered into eternal life on Thursday, February 16, 2023 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital-Somerset in Somerville, NJ with loving family by his side.  Born in Scranton, PA, son of the late John A. and Marian Anderson, he was a lifelong resident of Manville.

John was a graduate of Manville High School with the Class of 1974.  He obtained several certifications at the DeVry Technical Institute and the Chubb Institute, and also earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Technology at NJIT.  John was presently working for the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office in Somerville, NJ as an IT systems manager.  Previously, John had worked at RCA in Bridgewater, NJ and Bell Labs in Summit, NJ as an engineer, later transitioning to the IT field working at AT&T and later IBM both in Piscataway, NJ as well as Johnson & Johnson in Raritan, NJ as a consultant.  A dedicated man, John was a coach for his son's baseball and soccer teams, and participated in MYAL volunteer and fundraising activities.  In his free time, John had a passion for woodworking, photography, photo and video editing, and cooking.  He was also an avid reader.  His fondest times were those spent with his family, especially his cherished grandchildren. Not only was he their number one fan, but also their favorite Saturday morning breakfast maker.  John was a faithful communicant of St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church in Hillsborough, NJ where he had been very active as a bingo volunteer, church event photographer, and cook for their tricky tray events. He was well known for making his famous kielbasa and sauerkraut.

Besides his parents, John was predeceased by his beloved daughter-in-law, Melanie Anderson.

John is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of forty-three years, Carol Anderson. He will also be deeply missed by three loving children, John Anderson of Manville, Steven Anderson and his wife Megan of York, PA, and Jessica Anderson of Manville; four dear siblings, Anita and her husband Richard Madden, Robert Anderson, Richard Anderson and his wife Connie, and Cynthia Sanders; four cherished grandchildren, Gabriella, Johnny, Evan, and Nora; and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a viewing at Fucillo & Warren Funeral Home, 205 South Main Street, Manville, NJ 08835 on Thursday, February 23 from 4-8 p.m. with the Parastas service at 5:00 p.m. and on Friday, February 24 from 8:30-9:15 a.m. with the Panachida service 9:15 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church in Hillsborough with Fr.
