Manville, NJ- John Day, 81, entered into eternal life on Friday, December 2, 2016 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital-Somerset in Somerville, NJ surrounded by his loving family. Born in Manville, NJ, son of the late Joseph and Grace (Vaccarella) Day, he resided in Manville all of his life.

John served his country with the United States Navy as a Boilerman, 3rd Class during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1961. He was a life member of Manville-Hillsborough Elks Lodge #2119. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, and the Senior Citizens. John loved classic car shows, gardening, woodworking and was an avid train collector. He enjoyed spending time at the farm, watching country western shows and loved listening to country music. John adored spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a communicant of and Usher at Christ the Redeemer Parish (Christ the King Church) in Manville.

Besides his parents, John was predeceased by his two brothers, Anthony and Bioggio (Bob) Day.

John is survived by his beloved wife, Natalie (Danysh) Day; four loving daughters, Mary Ellen Day of Somerville, Diane Altonen and her husband John of Lilburn, GA, Susan Schilp and her husband Joseph of Piscataway, and Jennifer Murray and her husband Richard of Hillsborough. He leaves behind his brother, Joseph Day of Apex, NC. He will be deeply missed by his nine cherished grandchildren: Jason, Matthew, Michael, Katie, Mary, Amber, Nicholas, Zachary and John.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a viewing at Fucillo & Warren Funeral Home, 205 South Main Street, Manville, N.J. 08835 on Tuesday, December 6 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. and on Wednesday, December 7 from 8 – 8:30 a.m.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 7, beginning 8:30 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a 9:00 a.m. funeral liturgy at Christ the Redeemer Parish (Christ the King Church) in Manville. Committal words and military honors will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Hillsborough. Memorial contributions may be made in John's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to the Manville/Hillsborough Elks.
