Westfield, NJ- John Robert Gozdieski, 57, entered into eternal life on Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset in Somerville, NJ.  Born in Passaic, NJ, son of the late Marion (Mike) and Margaret (nee Simms) Gozdieski he was raised in Rutherford, NJ but spent most of his life in Manville, NJ before settling in Westfield.

In his youth, John was aviation-minded and became a member of the Civil Air Patrol; he had a passion for collecting baseball cards, was an animal lover, and Deadhead.  He traveled to see the Grateful Dead at hundreds of shows and festivals throughout the United States.  He was a taper of many of their shows in the late 70's and early 80's, an activity Jerry Garcia and the band looked kindly upon as he, himself, had been on several cross-country treks to record bluegrass music prior to the Grateful Dead.  John was a proud uncle to his two cherished nephews.  John was an intelligent and compassionate individual.  He began his working career after high school and some college as a computer aided design (CAD) technician.  He later drove for Saddle Up Taxi in Manville, was a cook at Fiddler's Elbow Country Club in Bedminster, NJ, and was presently working for Walgreens in Union, NJ as a customer service associate.

John is survived by two dear brothers, Michael-Henry Gozdieski and Jeffrey Gozdieski and his wife Maureen.  He will be deeply missed by his loving nephews, Erik and Jarek Gozdieski.  John also leaves behind to cherish his memory his two uncles, Henry Carratini and Eugene Simms and several cousins.
