Obituary

Brick, NJ—John A. Gregor, 83, of Brick, NJ, died on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at Hackensack Meridian Ocean Medical Center in Brick.  He was born in Manville, NJ, the son of John and Mary Gregor, and resided there most of his life.  He moved to the Metedeconk section of Brick Township in 1997.

John graduated from Bound Brook High School and served in the U.S. Navy aboard the Aircraft Carrier – USS Philippine Sea (CVA-47) as an aviation ordnance Petty Officer Third Class during the Korean War.  During his tour with the Navy he was awarded the China Service, National Defense, Korean Service, United Nations and Good Conduct medals.  John was a life member of the VFW Post 2290 and a communicant of St. Martha's Church in Point Pleasant, NJ and Sacred Heart Church in Manville.

John worked for 34 years in Johns-Manville as senior inspector in the Quality Assurance Department.  After leaving J-M, he worked for the Department of Defense in Quality Assurance, as well as Federal Mogul, and was a real estate agent for many years.  He was also a member of the Manville Civil Defense.

John was a loving father, grandfather and husband who loved their home at the Jersey Shore and their ocean condo in Myrtle Beach, SC.  He loved salt water fishing in the ocean and bay, enjoyed the wonderful times spent cruising on his boat with his family, as well as water tubing with his grandchildren.

Besides his parents, John was predeceased by his daughter, Diane Bradley; sister, Cecelia Palochko; and grandson, Mark Gregor.

Surviving are his beloved wife, Catherine; his loving children, Mark Gregor and his wife, Deborah of Manville, and John Gregor and his wife, Cynthia of Oxford, NJ; son-in-law, Thomas Bradley of Manville; four adored grandchildren, Nicole and her husband Jason Allan, Jason Gregor and his wife Nicole, Christopher Gregor and Michael Gregor; his twin sister, Marie Martin and his brother, Thomas Gregor and his wife Julianna.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a viewing at Fucillo & Warren Funeral Home, 205 South Main Street, Manville, NJ 08835 on Friday, October 6 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. and on Saturday, October 7 from 8-8:30 a.m.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 7 beginning 8:30 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a 9:00 a.m. funeral liturgy at Christ the Redeemer Parish (Sacred Heart Church) in Manville.  The interment will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Hillsborough, NJ.  In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations in John's name to Christ the Redeemer Parish, 98 South 2 nd Avenue, Manville, NJ 08835.
