John Richard Lisay, Jr., 67, entered into eternal life on Wednesday, April 30, 2025 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital-Somerset in Somerville, NJ. Born in Somerville, son of the late John Richard and Sally Florence (nee Katchka) Lisay, he was a lifelong resident of Manville, NJ.
John graduated from Manville High School with the class of 1976. He subsequently served his country with pride and honor in the United States Army as a Specialist 4 (SP4), primarily in the military police while stationed in Germany for a significant portion of his service time. After many years of committed work in the construction industry, he retired, having most recently been employed with the Laborers' International Union of North America Local #6 in Mountainside, NJ.
John took pleasure in fishing in nearby rivers and streams. He also enjoyed visiting casinos and playing bingo. A skilled handyman, John was known for his courteous and compassionate nature, always willing to assist lend a hand to those in need. His family remembers him frequently saying, 'Pardon me if I am wrong.'
John is survived by his four dear sisters, Geraldine Klimowich of Manville, Alexandra "Sandy" DeStefano of Whitehouse Station, NJ, Sharon Mroz of Manville, and Jacqueline Perkins of Flemington, NJ; his devoted companion, Shurla Klekner of Manville; numerous cherished nieces and nephews; and his treasured Godchild, Alissa Mroz.
Family and friends are invited to gather for a viewing on Monday, May 5, 2025 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Fucillo & Warren Funeral Home, located at 205 South Main Street, Manville, NJ 08835. Committal words and interment will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Hillsborough, NJ.
