Obituary

John Michael Michta, age 69, was called home to be with Jesus on Sunday, May 24, 2026. He was at home surrounded by his loving family. John was born in Somerville, New Jersey, and is the son of the late Andrew and Bernadette (nee Barton) Michta. He spent much of his life as a resident of Manville, New Jersey, until moving to Hillsborough, New Jersey in 2000.

John graduated from Manville High School in 1974. He was a parishioner of Christ the Redeemer Parish (formerly of Christ the King Roman Catholic Church) in Manville, New Jersey. He dedicated 35 years of service to UPS in Bound Brook, New Jersey as a package car driver. After his retirement, he spent the next eight years as a plant operator for Aeropres Corporation in Hillsborough, New Jersey.

John loved God, his family, his dog and his home. Yardwork was one of his favorite pastimes. He took pride in everything he did and in everything he owned.  He loved his truck, his motorcycles and his gun collection. John was a true flag-flying patriot who loved his country and his President. He was even lucky enough to meet President Trump and have his hat signed by him. John was a good man, a strong man, a kind man, and a brave man who will be missed by many.

John is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 38 years, Ellen (nee Barnish) Michta, with whom he joined hands in Holy Matrimony on September 5, 1987; his two loving children, Noah Jon Michta and Abby Michta of Hillsborough, New Jersey; his in-laws, Raymond and Evelyn Barnish also of Hillsborough, New Jersey; his sister-in-law Karen Barnish-Davies, her husband James Davies and their son, John's nephew, Shane Davies of Ringoes, New Jersey; his brother-in-law, Raymond Barnish, Jr. of Belleair Bluffs, Florida; and his treasured heart dog, Raymond. He is also survived by two brothers, Edward Michta and his wife Joann of Hillsborough, New Jersey and Andrew Michta of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; also, nephews, Edward Michta, Jr., Thomas Michta, and Shawn Michta; and many close friends. John was predeceased by his brother, Michael Michta of Manville, New Jersey.

Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial visitation at Fucillo & Warren Funeral Home, located at 205 South Main Street, Manville, NJ 08835 on Friday, May 29, 2026 from 5-9 p.m. A memorial funeral mass will be at Christ the Redeemer Parish, located at 98 South 2nd Avenue, Manville, NJ 08835 on Saturday, May 30, 2026 at 9:00 a.m. The final disposition will be private.
