Obituary

Manville, NJ- John Leo Tafilowski, 87, entered into eternal life on Monday, June 27, 2016 at his residence with loving family by his side. Born in Forest City, PA, son of the late Benjamin and Mary (Mansfield) Tafilowski, he had resided in Manville since 1942.

John was a draftsman all his life, retiring from American Standard in 1994 after twenty-three years. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1948 to 1952 during the Korean War. He was a communicant of Christ the Redeemer Parish (Christ the King Roman Catholic Church) in Manville and was a member of the Manville Senior Citizens Club. John loved to fish and was an avid Rutgers football fan.

Besides his parents, John was predeceased by his loving siblings, Alex Mosiejewski, Joseph Tafton, Rose Welichko, and Helen Mosiejewski-Bobinski.

John is survived by his devoted wife of fifty-seven years, Olga (Somoluk) Tafilowski; loving children, David Tafilowski and his wife Tania of North Carolina and Karen Liccardi and her husband Michael of South Bound Brook, NJ; and five cherished grandchildren, Justin, Ryan, Brandon, and Sophia Tafilowski and Cheyenne Liccardi. He will be deeply missed by his dear sister, Marge Sawicki; and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation at Fucillo & Warren Funeral Home, 205 South Main Street, Manville, NJ 08835 on Friday, July 1 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. and on Saturday, July 2 from 7:30-8:30 a.m.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 2 beginning 8:30 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a 9:00 a.m. funeral liturgy at Christ the King Roman Catholic Church in Manville. Committal words will take place at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Hillsborough, NJ.
