Manville, NJ- Joseph E. Benyo, 91, entered into eternal life on Thursday, August 9, 2018 at Care One at Somerset Valley in Bound Brook, NJ with loving daughters by his side. Born and raised in Drifton, PA, son of the late George and Anna (nee Kontura) Benyo, he moved to Manville in 1965.
Joseph faithfully served his country as a private with the United States Army during World War II and was most notably stationed in the Philippines and Japan. He was a dedicated factory worker for Johns Manville Corporation in Manville and became a member of their Quarter Century Club, having worked for them for over thirty years. Joseph loved spending time with family, especially his three granddaughters. He was an avid baseball fan. Joseph's faith was of great importance to him; he was a parishioner of Christ the Redeemer Parish (Christ the King Roman Catholic Church) in Manville.
Besides his parents, Joseph was predeceased by his beloved wife, Eleanor M. (nee Skuba) Benyo on February 1, 1989; siblings, Margaret, John, Thomas, Emma, George "Benny" Jr., Helen and Paul; triplet grandchildren, Duncan, Penelope, and Benton Lyon; son-in-law, Richard Lister; and son-in-law, William Scott Lyon.
Joseph is survived by four loving daughters, Diane Lister of Raleigh, NC, Theresa and her husband Kevin Lemak, Joann Lyon, and Debra Benyo. He will be deeply missed by his dear sister, Catherine Benyo of Drifton, PA; and three cherished granddaughters, Patricia, Stefanie, and Allison Lister.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a viewing at Fucillo & Warren Funeral Home, 205 South Main Street, Manville, NJ 08835 on Monday, August 13 from 5-9 p.m. and on Tuesday, August 14 from 8-8:30 a.m.
Funeral services will begin at the funeral home on Tuesday, August 14 at 8:30 a.m. followed by a 9:00 a.m. funeral liturgy at Christ the Redeemer Parish (Christ the King Roman Catholic Church) in Manville. Committal words and interment will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Hillsborough, NJ. Memorial contributions may be made in Joseph's name to the Alzheimer's and Dementia Association, Greater NJ Chapter, 400 Morris Avenue, Suite 251, Denville, NJ 07834 or March of Dimes National Office, 1275 Mamaroneck Avenue, White Plains, NY 10605.Visits: 1
