Joseph P. Triano

Joseph Peter "Joe" "Ano" Triano, aged 92, peacefully entered eternal life on Friday, September 4, 2026, in Lebanon, NJ, surrounded by his wife & loving family. Joseph was born in Plainfield, NJ, and grew up in Scotch Plains, NJ. He resided in Somerville, NJ, and Branchburg, NJ, before eventually returning to Somerville. After his retirement, he moved to Holiday City in Toms River, NJ, and most recently relocated to Hillsborough, NJ. He was the son of the late Alfonso and Angelina (née DelNero) Triano.

Joe graduated from Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School, Class of 1953. He subsequently served his country honorably in the United States Army. Joe began his professional journey as a collections officer at the United National Bank, which later became PNC in Plainfield, NJ, where he dedicated many years of service until retirement. He also spent time in this line of work for a period at Certified Credit in Branchburg, NJ. Following his retirement, he took on a role as bus aide for Manchester Township School District, in Manchester, NJ to stay busy.

Joe, a devoted man, was a parishioner at Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church located in Bridgewater, NJ. He served for the UNICO National, the largest Italian American service organization in the United States, which upholds the motto "Service Above Self." He was a yearly key contributor to the UNICO St. Bartholomew’s Italian feast at St. Bartholomew Apostle Catholic Church in Scotch Plains, NJ, also running the Pasty Booth for decades. He also held the position of President multiple times, and one of his cherished responsibilities was overseeing their Brian Piccolo Scholarship Awards Ceremony, where, as Master of Ceremonies for many years, he had the privilege of awarding scholarships to High School Senior scholar-athletes.

In his younger years, Joe had a strong passion for sports. As he grew older, he enjoyed coaching Branchburg Youth Athletics alongside his son. He also took pleasure in playing adult softball, where as a player/manager, his teams won multiple championships. A significant achievement was when he was awarded Manager of the Year several times. As a dedicated sports fanatic, Joe was an avid supporter of the New York Yankees and the New York football Giants. He felt immense joy when he finally had the opportunity to attend a New York Yankees World Series game in the Fall of 2024. Another cherished memory was when he attended Mickey Mantle Day at Yankee Stadium on September 18, 1965, and again on June 8, 1969.

In his retirement years, Joe took pleasure in playing bocce ball, shuffleboard and darts. He loved to share stories of the outcome of his games with his wife, children and grandchildren. One of his favorite hobbies was cooking. His meatballs and sauce consistently received praise at family gatherings and his pizza was legendary.

In addition to his parents, Joseph was predeceased by his sister, Mildred Triano.

Joseph is survived and will be dearly missed by his beloved wife of 47 years, Joyce Gail (née Lasch) Triano; six loving children, Mary Kay and her husband Larry Karachum of Sebastian, FL; Cheryl Triano of Barefoot Bay, FL; Joey Triano of Milford, NJ; Debbie Newton of Asbury, NJ; Lynn and her husband Paul Whitenight of Manville, NJ; and Michael J. Triano and his girlfriend Lauren of Clinton, NJ; eleven cherished grandchildren, Ryan, Sean, Kristen, Megan, Callie, Jenna, Dylan, Veronica, Timmy, Casey, and Jake; an adored great-granddaughter, Sienna; and many dear extended family members and friends.

Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial visitation on Saturday, September 12, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with funeral services beginning at 12:00 p.m. at Fucillo & Warren Funeral Home, 205 South Main Street, Manville, NJ 08835.
