Obituary

Ewing, NJ- Josephine D. (nee Burek) McCulligh, 94, entered into eternal life on Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at the Greenwood House in Ewing, with loving family by her side.  Born in Round Valley, NJ, daughter of the late Walter and Mary (nee Zimna) Burek, she was raised on a farm in Great Meadows, NJ.  As a teenager Josephine moved to Manville, NJ, where she spent most of her life and in 1999 she resided in Whiting, NJ, until moving to Ewing about four years ago.

Josephine worked for several years with marketing research at Mapes & Ross in Princeton, NJ, before retiring in 1992.  She was a past parishioner at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church (Presently Christ the Redeemer Parish) in Manville and more recently had been a parishioner at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Church in Whiting.  Time spent with her children and grandchildren meant the world to Josephine.  She was a history buff, enjoyed word puzzles and word games, and loved all kinds of music.  Spending time in her rose gardens and planting flowers was a favorite pastime.

Besides her parents, Josephine was predeceased by her beloved husband, Gary D. McCulligh on February 19, 2012.  The youngest of seven, Josephine was predeceased by six siblings, John Burek, Angela Talan, Edward Burek, Fay LeMay, Anne Burek, and Stella Shulack.

Josephine is survived and will be deeply missed by three loving children, Dottie and her husband, John Polak, Brian McCulligh and his wife, Laurie, and Joyce and her husband, George Crosson; five cherished grandchildren, Chad Polak, Aaron McCulligh, Collin McCulligh, Brittany Crosson, and Nicole Crosson; and many dear nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the viewing on Sunday, February 4, from 2-6 p.m. and on Monday, February 5, from 8-8:30 a.m. at Fucillo & Warren Funeral Home, 205 South Main Street, Manville, NJ 08835.  Funeral services will begin on Monday, February 5, at 8:30 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a 9:00 a.m. funeral mass at Christ the Redeemer Parish in Manville.  Committal words and interment will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Hillsborough, NJ.  To send condolences to the family, share photographs, or light a virtual candle in memory of Josephine, please visit www.FucilloandWarrenFuneralHome.com
