Manville, NJ—Josephine T. (neé Lewis) Pschar, 83, passed away on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital-Somerset.  Born in Wilkes-Barre, PA, daughter of the late Eugene F. and Josephine (neé Ryman) Lewis, she was a lifelong resident of Manville.

Josephine was a graduate of Somerville High School.  She worked for AGFA in Branchburg where she held positions as an inspector, first responder/EMT and safety auditor until she retired. Josephine was a dedicated mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  She had a passion for caring for family first, but also found time for her devout Catholic faith and the Manville Community where she was very active.  She was Past President of Christ the King Parish Council as well as a Eucharist Minister and Sexton for the church and the Somerset Medical Center, First Friday Eucharist Minister, Baptism Instructor and Past Treasurer and Chaplin for the Altar Rosary Society.  She was a regular who always volunteered to work in the church kitchens for bingo and many other church fundraisers.   She especially loved helping at the Sacred Heart Annual Festival every year preparing pierogies and potato pancakes.  She ran bus trips for Christ the King Church and the Manville Seniors' Club.  She was active in the Manville Municipal Alliances Club and also the Manville Recreation Committee.  Josephine was President of the Tuesday Morning Early Birds Bowling League, a Lifetime Member of the Manville Rescue Squad Ladies Auxiliary, and VP of the Manville High School Booster Club.  She volunteered at Flu clinics, worked the voting polls and countless other events in town.  In her earlier years you could find Josephine playing softball on the Ladies Leagues in Manville.

Her dedication and passion was always to serve the children of Manville where you would find her at every home Mustang Football game working in the shack serving food and greeting all.  This would lead her to serve on the Manville Board of Education where she recently retired.

One of her greatest accomplishments was receiving The Manville Citizen of the Year Award in 2014.  Josephine will always be remembered dearly as someone who gave everything of herself to family, faith and community.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved husband, Joseph J. Pschar in 2009 and loving son-in-law, Stephen J. Mortensen, Sr. in 2016.

Josephine is survived by her three loving children: daughter, Donna M. Mortensen and sons, Joseph G. Pschar and Mark M. Pschar.   She was a loving Nana to her adored grandchildren, Stephen J. Mortensen, Jr., Dana M. Parks and her husband, Jimmy Parks and Michael M. Pschar who will all miss her dearly.  Nothing brought more joy and happiness to her life than when she became a great grandmother "Gigi" to her great grandson JJ Parks and great granddaughter, Madison Parks.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a viewing at Fucillo & Warren Funeral Home, 205 South Main Street, Manville, NJ 08835, on Friday, November 10, 2023, from 4-8 p.m. and on Saturday, November 11, from 7:30- 8:15 a.m., followed by a 9:00 a.m. funeral mass at Christ the Redeemer Parish in Manville.  Interment will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery in East Millstone.
