Karen Ann Matyk, age 81, entered eternal life on Friday, February 13, 2026, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital-Somerset in Somerville, New Jersey, with her friend by her side. She was born and raised in Franklin Township, Pennsylvania, as daughter of the late George Thomas and Catherine (née Kikta) Matyk, and later moved to Manville, New Jersey, with her brother Tom. In December 2000, they transitioned to Bridgewater, New Jersey, where Karen's most recent residence was at Brandywine Middlebrook Crossing in Bridgewater. At Brandywine, Karen made special connections with many of the staff, including her favorite nurse, Jamie.

Karen had a vibrant zest for life. She relished solving Word Search Puzzles and valued her interactions with the clients and staff at the Adult Day Center of Somerset County in Bridgewater. Karen was truly passionate about art and had a great love for cheeseburgers. In her younger years, Karen worked at the Somerset County Recycling Center in Bridgewater.

Besides her parents, Karen was predeceased by her brother Tom Matyk and her twin sister, Kathy.

Karen will be deeply missed by her loving friend, Helen A. Bautista; all her caring friends and staff at the Adult Day Center of Somerset County, and .
