Obituary

Kathryn ("Kathy") Jean Elguicze, née Wiese, cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on March 25th, 2024 at the age of 74 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Kathy was the loving wife of Robert ("Bob") Elguicze for more than 49 years; devoted mother of Karen Cleary (Gene), Julianna Laudati (Tom) and Robert (Julie); proud grandmother of Michael, Patrick and Joseph Cleary and Ryan and Brandon Laudati; and sister-in-law to the late Joseph (Jean) Elguicze.  Kathy will be sorely missed by everyone who knew her.

Kathy was born in Rahway, NJ and grew up in Fanwood.  She then made Franklin Township her home for over 49 years.  Kathy graduated from Albright College in Reading, PA with a degree in Economics and went on to work for the New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance.  It was there that she met the love of her life, Bob, with whom she shared over 49 years of marriage and became the mother of three children. Kathy was a stay-at-home mom for many years and caring for her family brought her immense joy.  She was truly the glue that held them together.

Kathy was an avid reader, amazing cook, and talented knitter and quilter.  She loved to travel and took her dream trip to Italy last year.  But being with her family and friends brought her the most happiness.  She radiated warmth and care, generously extending love and friendship to all those she encountered.  She had a way of making everyone she met feel important and valued.  She adored her husband, children and especially her grandchildren.  Kathy helped care for them when they were babies, played with them every chance she got, and cheered them on at their activities.

We will spend the rest of our lives honoring Kathy's memory by trying to emulate some of her finest qualities – caring for others, being present with every person you meet, and making everyone feel important and welcome.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations may be made in Kathy's name to Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate Kathy's life on Monday, April 1st, from 10 AM to 1 PM at Fucillo and Warren Funeral Home, 205 South Main Street, Manville, NJ.
