Manville, NJ- Louis J. Gabriel, 81, entered into eternal life on Thursday, January 16, 2025 at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital-Somerset with his loving family by his side. He was born on April 17, 1943, in Newark, NJ, son of the late James and Helen (nee Guarino) Gabriel.
Lou was a graduate of Parsippany High School with the Class of 1962. He faithfully served his country with the United States Army from 1963 to 1966 during peace time in Korea. He had a long and successful career as a power plant start up operator in the oil and gas industry, where he worked throughout the United States and abroad.
In 1988, Louis settled with his family in Manville, NJ, where he built a life full of love, laughter, and cherished memories.
A man of many talents and interests, he was an avid reader , enjoyed golf and loved going fishing. He enjoyed building and flying radio controlled model airplanes, making wine to share with family and friends, and indulging in his passion for history. He coached his son through Pop Warner Football and was always active in his children's lives throughout their school years and beyond. Lou, was a die-hard football fan, he was proud to cheer on his Raiders every season. Above all, Louis loved his family beyond measure and created a warm, loving home for them. He never went anywhere without making a friend, and his warmth, kindness, and humor will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Besides his parents, Lou was predeceased by his daughter, Karrie Anne Miller in 2020 and his sister Carmela Matino.
Lou is survived and will be deeply missed by his beloved wife Carol A. (nee Kaminski) Gabriel of 52 years who he joined hands in marriage with on April 3, 1972; loving children Kristen and her husband Matthew Hudson of Mays Landing, James Gabriel of Manville; dear sister Elizabeth and her husband, Paul Amoresano; dear sister-in-law, Barbara and her husband, Kevin Plunkett, and brother-in-law's, Richard Kaminski, and his wife Kim and Robert Kaminski and his wife Holly; two cherished grandchildren, Alexis Hill and Taryn Miller; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and life long friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial visitation at Fucillo & Warren Funeral Home, 205 South Main Street, Manville, NJ 08835 on Thursday, January 23, from 4-7 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:00 p.m. officiated by Fr.
