Obituary

Franklin Park, NJ--Lucy (nee Zamczynski) Maziarzewski entered into eternal life on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ.  Lucy was born in Jersey City, NJ, daughter of the late Olga and Thaddeus Zamczynski.  When her mother remarried, the family took up residence in Passaic, NJ.

Lucy received her Bachelor's Degree at Alliance College in Cambridge Springs, Pa, and then pursued her Master's Degree at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C and at the Jagelonian University in Cracow, Poland.  Through the eighties and nineties, Lucy worked as a freelance writer under the literary name of Lucy Mazareski and authored many articles, essay reviews, and short stories for such notable publications as the Catholic Register, The World and I Magazine, the New England Review, and even collaborated with Marvel Comics on a Marvel Biography of Pope John Paul II.  She also translated books from the Polish language by one of Poland's most popular authors. Fr. Mieczyslaw Malinski.

In 1993 Lucy changed career directions and worked as an organist and choir director at Our Lady of Mercy Parish in South Bound Brook, NJ.  Then in 1999 she began her work as organist and choir director of both adult and children's choir at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, which later was joined with Christ the King Roman Catholic Church to form present day Christ the Redeemer Parish all in Manville, NJ, where she had served to the present time.  With her husband Andre, she was an avid kayaker, biker, and camper.

Besides her parents, Lucy was predeceased by her beloved husband, Andre Maziarzewski; and her stepfather.

Lucy is survived in the United States by her Aunt Janina.

Relative and friends are invited to attend a memorial mass on Tuesday, September 13 at 1:00 p.m. at Christ the Redeemer Parish, 98 South 2nd  Avenue, Manville, NJ 08835.  Lucy will be inurned beside her husband Andre at Resurrection Cemetery, 146 Metlars Lane, Piscataway, NJ 08854 on Wednesday, September 14 at 11:00 a.m.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Lucy's name to Christ the Redeemer Parish, 98 South 2 nd Avenue, Manville, NJ 08835.  Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Fucillo & Warren Funeral Home, 205 South Main Street, Manville, NJ 08835.  To send condolences or light a virtual candle, please visit www.FucilloandWarrenFuneralHome.com .
