Obituary

Hillsborough, NJ – Amelia Cossio de Denegri, 96, entered into eternal life on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at Foothill Acres Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in Hillsborough, NJ. Born and raised in Lima, Peru, to the late Daniel Cossio and Rosa Manzares, Amelia immigrated to the United States in 1995 alongside her beloved husband, Enrique Denegri. They settled in Franklin Park, NJ, with their daughter and her family.

Amelia was a devoted homemaker who found immense joy in caring for her family. Known for her vibrant personality and unwavering honesty, she was a beloved grandmother and great-grandmother who cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In her younger years, Amelia enjoyed playing volleyball, shopping, dancing, and taking long walks—activities that reflected her active and lively spirit. Even in her later years, she remained committed to staying fit and engaged.

In addition to her parents, Amelia was predeceased by her husband, Enrique Denegri, in 2006, and her siblings, Elena Mavila and Miguel Cossio.

She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with her children: Marcela Dominguez of New Jersey, Gladys Garcia of Franklin Park, Fidel Denegri and his wife Katherine of Hillsborough, and Oscar Denegri of Peru. Amelia will also be deeply missed by her 10 adored grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and many dear nieces, nephews, and cousins.

One of Amelia's favorite sayings was, "para qué mentir," which translates to "why lie?" This phrase encapsulated her refreshingly candid nature and her dedication to honesty—a trait her family admired and will forever treasure.

Her family will miss her deeply… "para qué mentir."
