Obituary

Millstone, NJ- Maria "Mary" (Dajka) Katko, 88, entered into eternal life on Sunday, February 12, 2012 at Somerset Medical Center in Somerville. Born in Backa, Czechoslovakia, daughter of the late Alexander and Piroska (Demes) Dajka who died shortly after childbirth to her and her twin sister, she was raised by her loving stepmother Rebeka Dajka. Once arriving in the United States, Mary resided in Manville from 1949 until settling to Millstone in 1954.

Mary was employed in production with Jelco/Critikon in Raritan for 13 years and for 2 years with Unisys Corporation in Flemington and was a member of the Manville Reformed Church. Mary loved gardening, cooking family dinners, she was an excellent baker and enjoyed trips to Atlantic City. Mary treasured time spent with her great grandchildren and by the smile on her face you knew they were her greatest joy.

Besides her parents, Mary was predeceased by her beloved husband John Katko on August 9, 1982; twin sister Piros Kosztyo; brothers Sandor and Alec Dajka and dear sisters-in-law Margaret Katko and Mary Canney.

Mary leaves behind to cherish her memory, two loving & devoted daughters, Olga Vallario and husband Donald of Bridgewater and Margaret Judith Ireland and companion Vincent Metzler of Millstone; four cherished grandchildren, Michael and wife Laura Vallario, Robert Vallario and Keith and wife Erica Ireland, Rebeka and husband Christian Nebel; three precious great grandchildren, Rachael and Anna Vallario and Morgan Ireland. She will be deeply missed by her loving family, many nieces & nephews, dear friends and dedicated caregiver Maria Farkas.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation at Fucillo & Warren Funeral Home, 205 South Main Street, Manville, NJ 08835 on Thursday, February 16 from 2-4 p.m. & 7-9 p.m. and on Friday, February 17 from 11:00-12:00 p.m.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 17 beginning 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Zsolt Otvos officiating. Committal words will follow at New Cemetery in Somerville where Mary will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband. Memorial contributions may be made in Mary's memory to Manville Reformed Church, 235 South 6th Avenue, Manville, NJ 08835.
