Manville, NJ- Marian Anderson, 90, entered into eternal life on Thursday, August 25, 2022 at home with her loving family by her side. Born and raised in Olyphant, PA, Marian was the daughter of the late Jacob and Mary. After marriage, Marian moved to Cortland, NY where she and her husband resided for a few years until settling in Manville where they raised their children and she spent most of her life.
Marian was most importantly a homemaker, but also worked for many years as a bookkeeper and was employed by several local companies. She volunteered as a bingo worker at St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church as well. When her sons were young, Marian participated as a Cub Scout Den leader and spent numerous hours decorating floats and making costumes. Marian was a fantastic baker, making dozens of Christmas cookies every year as well as her famous nut rolls. She loved the New York Yankees, enjoyed watching the Hallmark channel, and trying her luck playing the lottery and slot machines at the casinos. Family vacations were spent at the beach with homemade meatloaf sandwiches, potato chips, and pink Necco candy. As a woman of faith, Marian was a member of St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church in Hillsborough, NJ. She took great pride in caring for her family, and then later her precious grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, Marian was predeceased by her beloved husband, John Anderson; and all ten of her older siblings.
Marian is survived by five loving children, John Anderson and his wife Carol, Anita and her husband Richard Madden, Robert Anderson, Richard Anderson and his wife Connie, and Cynthia Sanders. She will be deeply missed by her ten cherished grandchildren, John, Steven, Jessica, Eric, Amanda, Douglas, Ryan, Megan, Emily, and Rachel; all of whom affectionately called her Granny; and six adored great grandchildren, Gabriella, John, Evan, Nora, Mila, and Alexandra; all of whom affectionately called her Gigi and several dear nieces and nephews.
Private funeral arrangements were under the direction of Fucillo & Warren Funeral Home, 205 South Main Street, Manville, NJ 08835. Marian was interred at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Hillsborough.
