Mary (Machita) George, 93, entered into eternal life on Sunday, August 21, 2011 at Monmouth Crossing Assisted Living in Freehold, NJ. Born in St. Benedict, PA, daughter of the late Nicholas and Katherine (Roman) Machita, she was raised and spent most of her life in Manville moving to Hillsborough in 1956 and finally settling to Freehold six years ago.
Mary was a 1936 graduate of Bound Brook High School, a parishioner of St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church in Hillsborough and a member of the Hillsborough Senior Citizen's Club. In 1973, Mary retired as a cost clert from Johns Manville Corporation where she employed for 33 years having been a member of the Quarter Century Club. She enjoyed sewing and gardening always sharing the fruits of her labor with others.
Besides her parents, Mary was predeceased by beloved husband Louis George on March 26, 1993 and by three dear siblings, John Machita, Ann Laplante and Eleanore Machita.
Mary leaves behind her loving son and daughter-in law, Louis R. and Veronica George of Jacobstown, NJ, two cherished grandchildren, Jonathan Schmitt and Jessica Schmitt and several adored nieces and nephews each of whom will miss her dearly.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation at Fucillo & Warren Funeral Home, 205 South Main Street, Manville, NJ 08835 on Wednesday, August 24 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. and on Thursday, August 25 from 9:15 a.m. until 10:15 a.m.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 25 beginning 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a 11:00 a.m. funeral liturgy at St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church in Hillsborough. Mary will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Hillsborough. Fr. Ed Cimbala will celebrate the Parastas on Wednesday, August 24 at 7:30 p.m.
