Manville, NJ- Matilda "Billie" (Buczkowski) Zwerko, 87, entered eternal life on Monday, November 7, 2011 at home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Irvington, NJ daughter of the late Walter and Michaelina (Olas) Buczkowski, she was a lifelong resident of Manville.
Matilda was a graduate of Bound Brook High School "Class of 1940" and Somerset County College "Class of 1975." She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Manville and had been active with various clubs while raising her children. In 1988, she retired as the manager of Edward's Jewelers in Princeton after 45 dedicated years of employment.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved husband of 56 years, Charles Zwerko and by two dear sisters Laura Robb and Janet Welaj.
Matilda is survived by four beloved children, son Gregory and his wife Lois Zwerko of Manville, son Kurt and his wife Kathy Zwerko of Emmaus, PA, daughter Valerie Zwerko of Florham Park, NJ and her companion Samuel T. Byron, Jr. of Miami, FL and son Michael and his wife Holly Zwerko of Raritan. She will be deeply missed by her dear brother Stanley "Butch" Buczkowski of Bridgewater and four adored grandchildren, Zachary, Kevin, Kyle and Sarah Zwerko.
At the family's request all arrangements have been made private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Matilda's name to St. Hubert's Giraldi Shelter (an animal humane society), 3201 Route 22 East, North Branch, NJ 08876.
