Manville, NJ- Michael "Mickey A. Kaladas, 76, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at Somerset Medical Center in Somerville surrounded by his family and loved ones. Mickey was born in Bound Brook and was he son of the late Joseph and Florence (Fierro) Kaladas, he was a resident of Manville for the past forty-six years.
Mickey was a graduate of Bound Brook High School Class of 1953 and Somerset County Technical Institute. Mickey was a veteran of the United States Navy as an aviation structural mechanic 2. His last duty assignment in major command was at US Naval Air Station in Oceana, VA. Mickey received a Good Conduct Medal and was honorably discharged in 1962.
He retired from Ortho Pharmaceutical in Raritan as a HVAC supervisor after twenty-five years of continued service. He was a faithful communicant of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Manville. Mickey enjoyed fishing and was a New York Yankees fan. His love for the open water with rod in hand was only second to being with his family.
Besides his parents, Mickey was predeceased by two brothers, Edward and Walter Kaladas.
Mickey leaves behind the love of his life, Jennie Vaccarella of Manville; his sisters Veronica Belanger of Robbinsville, NC and Louise Giordando of Rockland, MA and his brother Stanley Kaladas of Somerset, NJ. He will also be deeply missed by his nieces and nephews and his great nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation at Fucillo & Warren Funeral Home, 205 South Main Street, Manville, NJ 08835 on Sunday, October 16 from 3-7 p.m. and on Monday, October 17 from 8-8:30 a.m.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 17 beginning at 8:30 a.m. from the funeral home followed by a 9:00 a.m. funeral liturgy at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Manville. Mickey will be laid to rest at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Hillsborough. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mickey's name to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
