Manville, NJ- Michael Shubiak, 80, born January 31, 1931 entered eternal life on Monday, September 12, 2011 at Somerset Medical Center in Somerville. Born and raised in Shenandoah, PA, son of the late John and Katherine (Pribish) Shubiak, he moved to Michigan prior to settling to Manville in 1952.
Michael retired from Johns Manville in Manville where he had been a press operator and a member of the Quarter century Club. He faithfully served his country with the United States Army. Michael was a member of Thomas J. Kavanaugh Post #2290 VFW and American Legion Post #304, both in Manville. He enjoyed playing cards and was a fan of both college and professional football, especially loyal to the Penn State Nittany Lions and Pittsburgh Steelers.
Besides his parents, Michael was predeceased by his beloved wife Katherine (Pilla) Shubiak of fifty years on August 20, 2005, his daughter Sheryl Lynn Shubiak in 1958 and his son Curtis Lee Shubiak in 1991.
Michael is the last of nine siblings and is survived by his loving children, Michael J. Shubiak of Manville, Katherine A. "Kitty" Shubiak of Manville, Ann C. "Ginger" Shubiak of Manville and Christine A. "Chrissy" Shubiak of Raritan. He will be deeply missed by six cherished grandchildren, Lisa, Brian, Christopher, Michael, Jolene and Amber; and his adored great grandson Anthony Tacak.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation at Fucillo & Warren Funeral Home, 205 South Main Street, Manville, NJ 08835 on Friday, September 16 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. and on Saturday, September 17 from 8-8:30 a.m.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 17 beginning 8:30 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a 9:00 a.m. funeral liturgy at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Manville. The disposition will be private. Memorial contributions may be made directly to Michael's family.
