Raritan Borough, NJ- Nadia (Stecko) Plakyda, 91, entered eternal life on Thursday, September 30, 2010 at Raritan Health & Extended Care Center in Raritan. Born in Lvov, Ukraine, daughter of the late Oleksander and Olena Stecko, Nadia had lived in Irvington and settled to Raritan over 15 years ago.
Nadia retired from Westinghouse in Bloomfield. By trade she was a pharmacist. She was a parishioner of St. Michael the Archangel Ukrainian Catholic Church in Hillsborough. Nadia enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and especially her great grandchildren.
Besides her parents, Nadia was predeceased by her beloved husband Roman Plakyda who died on May 4, 1985 and her sister Anna Stecko.
Nadia is survived by her loving children: Steven Zenon and Candace Plakyda, Roma and Paul Wiehl and Yaroslav "Jerry" Plakyda. She will be deeply missed by her five cherished grandchildren: Christopher & his wife Lynn, Derek & his wife Michele, Scott & his wife Tara, Laura & her husband Michael and Samantha; and nine adored great grandchildren: Melissa, Kelly, Jennifer, Kevin, Josie, Nicholas, Donovan, Isabelle and Benjamin.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation on Monday, October 4th at Fucillo & Warren Funeral Home, 205 South Main Street, Manville, NJ 08835 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. with the Parastas beginning at 7:30 p.m. and on Tuesday, October 5th from 9:30- 10:15 a.m. with the Panachyda beginning at 10:15 a.m.
Funeral services will be begin on Tuesday, October 5th at 10:15 a.m. from the funeral home followed by an 11:00 a.m. funeral liturgy at St Michael the Archangel Ukrainian Catholic Church in Hillsborough with Fr. Roman officiating. Committal words and interment will follow at St. Bernard Mausoleum in Bridgewater.
