Norman David Boyd, age 84, entered eternal life on Monday, April 13, 2026, at CareOne at Somerset Valley in Bound Brook, New Jersey. Norman was born and raised in Mount Carmel, Pennsylvania, and is the son of the late John and Anna (née Durovick) Boyd; he spent much of his life as a resident of Manville, New Jersey.

Norman graduated from Mount Carmel High School in the Class of 1960. After completing high school, he took pleasure in setting pins at the nearby bowling alley. Norman subsequently served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, achieving the rank of sergeant. He courageously served two tours in Vietnam and was awarded the Bronze Star for his bravery during his service time. Norman initiated his professional journey at Johns Manville, Inc. in Manville. In addition to his career, he devoted his spare time to volunteering for the Manville Rescue Squad and worked as a corrections officer with the Somerset County Sheriff's Department. While employed at the Sheriff's Department, Norman met a lovely woman through a mutual friend, and they eventually married. He dedicated over 25 years to Hoechst Celanese in Bridgewater, New Jersey, where his wife also worked. In the late 1990s to early 2000s, he transitioned to a position at 3M in Flemington, New Jersey, which became his final workplace before retirement.

Norman was a devout individual, having been a member with the Manville Reform Church and The Reformed Church at Finderne in Bridgewater. As a veteran who served his country with pride, he took pleasure in spending time and supporting the VFW Post #2290 in Manville. Furthermore, he supported the Manville Police Department, The Manville Rescue Squad, and the Manville Fire Department, through financial contributions.

Norman had a particular affection for animals, especially birds and dogs. He relished the moments spent with his son at car shows and consistently showed interest in whether his son had discovered or spotted a DeLorean. He cherished trips to Atlantic City with his family, as well as family gatherings during Christmas and other holidays. He also enjoyed time spent with family at Knoebles Amusement Park in Elysburg, Pennsylvania.

In addition to his parents, Norman was predeceased by his beloved wife, Marlies (née Both) Boyd on May 21, 2020; his sister, Elva Kurnec; his brother, Jack Boyd; his brother-in-law, Tom Kurnec; and his cousin, Shane Raczkowski.

Norman is survived by his loving son, David Boyd of Manville and Laura Wood of Galloway, New Jersey; and dear cousins, Diane and her husband Stan Raczkowski and Debra Barker.
